Gastric Band Hypnosis

Updated: Jun 14, 2022

Gastric band hypnosis is a completely painless, safe technique used in a hypnotherapy session to help the client reduce overeating and improve their portion control.

Many people opt for gastric band surgery in order to lose weight. It's an elective surgical procedure that carries a number of risks. Post-surgical complications are fairly common and can require follow-up surgeries for surgical repair or removal of the band. It involves making a surgical incision to carefully place a silicone band around the top portion of the stomach, limiting the quantity of food that can be ingested during meals. Reflux and vomiting are common side effects and it can dampen the enjoyment of eating (anyone who has experienced reflux would agree with this!)

The bottom line is that all surgeries carry a level of risk. Just getting a general anaesthetic is risky. It takes 10 seconds to find multiple articles about the risks of gastric band surgery so I won’t waste time writing them out for you, if you're interested in it then you should learn the risks. The fact that Finland banned the surgery due to too many post complications is enough to deter me from wanting any of my loved ones to experience it.

So, wouldn’t it be amazing if you could have a hypnotic experience where you receive a virtual gastric band on your stomach, in your mind, that would help you to reduce the need to overeat? With zero risks and similar results?

The feedback and results I receive from my clients always amaze me. I’ve had clients tell me that their friends, partners or children think that they must be so hungry, that there’s no way they could go from regularly eating pub-sized meals to eating smaller, healthier portions of food and not feel hungry. But they’re not. They’re not dieting, they’re not calorie counting… they are simply eating only what they need… and eating it consciously.

You see we tend to fall into patterns of unconscious behaviours (habits) that can be hard to break and eating habits are a classic example of this. It’s like we go on autopilot and just shovel in the food on a large plate, not wanting to be wasteful so eating every single bit, and we don’t stop to tune into our bodies and listen for the subtle sign that we are almost full… until it’s too late and we feel stuffed.

Feeling stuffed, like a heaviness in the stomach that leads to lethargy, is not good for us. If you eat a moderate portion of food at meal times, you should be able to carry on with your activities without feeling weighed down and sluggish.

When my clients start eating better portions, they find they have more energy and it’s easier to increase their exercise. And exercise leads to an increased thirst for water… which leads to a healthier body as well.

There is a wonderful flow on effect and I’m sure you can see the picture. More exercise, better portions of food, and increased water intake, speeds up your metabolism and improves your digestive system... which helps you lose weight.

And when you are eating better portions, listening to your body, moving everyday, drinking enough water… you naturally learn how to listen to your body more intuitively. You learn which foods might taste nice at the time but leave you feeling not so nice afterwards… like greasy burgers or excessive chocolate. And you start to naturally be attracted to the foods that leave you feeling great… fresh foods, wholesome foods. Foods that fuel your body with goodness.

The word diet doesn’t even cross your mind. Because this isn’t a diet.

“Well, do I really need hypnosis then? I could do all of that on my own”

Of course you can! You can do all of this on your own and not pay me to help you.

Just like my clients who quit smoking with hypnosis. They don’t need me either. But the feedback I get from my clients is that it sure helped make the process of change easier. Life-Long changes.
