At Bright Feathers Counselling & Consulting, I offer a range of tailored workshops for parents, carers, educators and school teams. These sessions are designed to empower the people supporting neurodivergent children and teens—whether at home, in classrooms, or across community settings.
Why Workshops Matter
Many parents and teachers are doing their best—but often without the tools, strategies or understanding they really need. My workshops are practical, respectful, and based on the latest neurodiversity-affirming approaches. They’re built to bridge the gap between theory and real life, offering guidance that feels achievable, not overwhelming.
Parent & Carer Workshops
These are designed for parents and carers who want to better understand their child’s neurodivergent brain, build connection, and respond with confidence in tricky moments. Whether you're navigating diagnosis, school systems, big emotions, or executive functioning challenges—there’s something for you.
Popular topics include:
Understanding your neurodivergent child: autism, ADHD and more
Managing meltdowns & shutdowns: co-regulation over consequences
Setting up for success at school: advocacy, IEPs and communication
Supporting executive functioning: practical strategies for home
Building your child’s self-esteem and identity
Self-care for parents of neurodivergent kids (because your wellbeing matters too)
Workshops can be delivered face-to-face or online, to individuals, small groups or parent communities (including early learning centres, schools, or support networks).
School & Educator Workshops
These sessions are for educators, learning support staff, teacher aides and school leaders. Each one is tailored to the needs of your team and delivered with the understanding that educators are often stretched—but still deeply committed to supporting their students well.
Topics might include:
Neurodivergence 101: autism, ADHD and the classroom
From behaviour to communication: understanding what’s really going on
Practical inclusion: building strategies that work in busy classrooms
Executive functioning in the school day
Creating safe, affirming environments for all brains
Collaboration with families and allied health professionals
All workshops are grounded in neuro-affirming, non-pathologising practice. I never assume there’s one “right” way to teach or learn—and I offer flexible delivery options depending on what suits your team best (PD days, after school, staff meetings or twilight sessions).
What Makes These Workshops Different?
With a background as a teacher, learning support coordinator, Positive Behaviour Support practitioner, counsellor and neurodivergent mum, I understand this space from multiple angles. I blend lived experience with professional insight—and I always lead with empathy, not judgment.
Whether you’re a parent, carer, school leader or teacher—these workshops are designed to make you feel more equipped, more connected, and more hopeful.
Let’s Chat
If you’d like to book a workshop, organise something for your team, or simply have a conversation about what might be helpful, I’d love to hear from you. Together, we can build communities that support neurodivergent kids in a way that is affirming, inclusive and genuinely helpful.
